90% of it was the same set of melancholy guitar chords. This at least has more diversity going for it

The Mantle purposefully repeats the chord progression from A Celebration For the Death of Man... a few times throughout, if that's what you mean. But as Rik said, it's their most diverse release.

This has more consistent doom and post-metal tendencies throughout than any of their others. Scars of the Shattered Sky being the real outro of this makes it perfect, and would rival The Mantle for their best probably.

Griseus? Just type in aquilus - griseus on youtube the full album is up there. otherwise his bandcamp i guess. Its a lot more neoclassically influenced than this but man i just love it

If it wasn't for The Grain, this would be on par with The Mantle.

Yeah, they are both 5s but The Mantle is a bit 5ier. The Grain offers me nothing tbh

Always liked this more than the mantle, though I've never been as hyped on this band as sputnik's spectacular echo chambers.

I prefer The Mantel just slightly more, but only slightly. I wouldn't use such a strongly objective word as "inferior"; they each have their strengths. This is growing on me more and more every time I listen. Definitely on its way to becoming a 5
