for the vibe this is going for, I'd rather just listen to The Contortionist, all the heaviness without needing to be heavy

the emotional and softer aspects of this album throughout the "hard rock" or "prog" vibes absolutely screams TC, especially referencing Clairvoyant

Tesseract too, if they replaced their vocalist with Chino Moreno if he smoked cigs since he was 10

I think ya'll have Chino confused for Marcus Vik.

I will never understand what the issue with Marcus' vocals here is. the biggest thing that dropped this rating is more the suffocatingly loud mix of everything (let the atmosphere BREATHE damnit) and songs like Immolation of Night.

Without a Whisper is the only song here that works imo

like I said, that song is the only thing that works here, it's like they based this whole album off that song and it's painfully obvious.

that said, I love that song. I wish they had different energies on the rest of the album so it didn't feel so one note.

hugely disagree on that song being the basis of the album stylistically and that has nothing to do with my enjoyment of it lol. if anything id say shade astray or abby p set the template. whisper stands pretty singularly to me here bar maybe emberglow which is still a lot more instrumentally intense

agree to disagree but this album feels like Mick Gordon's Doom soundtrack where BFG Division is the template and everything else is just a one-penny pony

not gonna be jamming Reverie in 5 years lol

Reverie is the worst song here ya

reverie is on the lower end of my ranking but its lovely. shade is worst here ez for me but still dope

kind of a strange example re: it being a one trick pony tho as its the only song that sounds like it on the album and is then followed up with a massive swing in the opposite direction dynamically lol, but again agree to disagree
