I'm pretty comfortable grading this as their best release. They're firing on all cylinders here. Can only say the same about PII, but this one's more consistent.

This aged really well for me so far it just got better overall. Probably their 3rd best album for me just on the strength of how much I like 6 out of the 9 songs.

Idk it's all subjective and all but grading this as their best still reads as absolutely insane to me and I like this album
I'd liken this to sort of a jack-of-all-trades/master-of-none sort of thing where it does everything you'd expect and not much else but there's not many moments that stick with me the same way stuff on previous albums do.

3 is quite easily their worst. doubles down on all of their worst qualities. generously like 3 good songs on that thing
tho this is bottom 3 i think it is infinitely more fun (despite its glaring shortcomings lol)

"generously like 3 good songs on that thing"
Marigold, The Way the News Goes, Remain Indoors, Absolomb, Catch Fire, Prayer Position, Lune (especially Absolomb and Lune)... take that and you've got an EP that borders on 5 stars. Rest is good too (around 4*) but that half is so good.

Catch Fire is absolutely repulsive 5 stars my arse. Their worst song.
PIII is great though despite the heavy moments being a step down from their other work.

Catch Fire's great. Spencer shines on the poppier hooks and it's one of their most infectious. Calling it their worst song is an interesting take, pretty wild to me when Make Total Destroy almost made me write these guys off when I first heard them in 2016 before I heard Spencer's versions of FFTL songs.
Plus... we're really talking shit about that like the first half of Wax Wings isn't basically Catch Fire with a lyrical premise that's harder to understand?
As for the heavier moments...sure but it's also got quite a few of their best melodic moments.
