All well here Titan. Jim Matheos, is a god we all know, but what he is doing, future works, may make him my favorite musician of all time.

I know we're all ignorant old men, but is there ANYTHING like Iron maiden today? A happy (not angsty/evil) metal band that has +5 genius albums and millions of obsessed fans around the world?

I feel kinda privileged to have been there, but it may all be nostalgia.

"is there ANYTHING like Iron maiden today?"

Don't think that we can have anything like Iron Maiden today, especially the way you, correctly, put it. The biggest problem for me is that bands these days just can't make a lot of money from releasing music, so they have to tour constantly instead of focusing on writing and recording new music. Also, album sales and money is a great incentive to sit down and try to make the best album possible, an incentive that doesn't exist anymore.

Maybe the closest we can get to a larger than life band today is Ghost, but even putting them in the same sentence with Maiden doesn't feel right. But Ghost do have many fans and bring a lot of new kids to heavy metal.

Agree with everything.

Also if I was a millionaire I would totally sponsor my favorite band. Not sure why this isn't a thing. They should make it tax deductible or something.

That's an awesome opener, but it's got some competition with "Sign of The Cross" and "Aces High" imo.
