Yeah the overall chemistry of the band on A Line in the Sand (and the album in general) is spectacular. This was especially a breath of fresh air when radio rock was getting stale at the time when this was released

It's definitely worthy of a 3 or 3.5 (from me) but I'd have to listen again.

Some parts felt thrown in like Rakim's part on Guilty.

It's not a 4.5, but TVC's points are good.

Is a shame that they have only released music videos for the soft songs ( the video of Guilty all the same doesn't count cuz is more like an AMV than anything). The chemistry and the intensity of this album is remarkable, the improvement in the instrumental departament is notorious as fuck, and the fact that this album never losses momentum is a big pro. The reason why this effort doesn't earn a 5 is because they wasted mr hahn and also some songs like until is gone and wastelands despite of been enjoyable could have been so much better

My biggest gripe would be the terrible production tho. Nearly Rick Rubin level loudness war on a ton of the songs here and Rick had nothing to do with the production here

C'mon guys can you stop pretending this and everything else this band has done isn't a heap of stinking horseshit?

Mark the Graves is my personal favorite. I may be a little biased to Linkin park but I also know that this definitely isn't garbage. I feel like the chemistry they have here is superb like it's been said, but there's something more to this that gives it an edge and energy not present on a lot of their other albums. Bourdon kills it on almost every track.

ATS is cohesive and has a good concept and some enjoyable songs. But still it has notorious flaws: First of all the intensity of this album is dissapointing for a band like linkin park which had a dynamic sound cuz in certain part of the album I feel bored, also 3 tracks could have been so much better if they had a more rock oriented sound ( wretches and kings, the catalyst, blackout ), also robot boy and the messenger are some of the worst songs made by linkin park.
