That's great stuff, thanks. It's so rare that he talks about his older music so it's refreshing to find interviews where he does. But if he loves mountain why does he never play it live! That song would be absolute bliss live

No problem guys. Yeah, I would LOVE to hear Mountain live; maybe he just considers it too sample-heavy? I dunno.

There's a Terria album commentary where I'm pretty sure he says Mountain is about his dog Happy, who is even sampled in the song. Though when he was recording the commentary Happy was really sick, so maybe as well as the samples it's a bit too personal for Dev. I dunno how much that affects which songs he plays live, but could also explain why Bastard only got played for the first time recently even though it was also one of his favourites.

On the live show Ki commentary in By a Thread, Devin mentions that the Terria tapes with all his samples, etc. were destroyed in a flood. Maybe that's why he doesn't play Mountain; because he can't/doesn't feel right recreating, or playing the song without, the sample(s) of his dog?

Does this album actually take people a long time to get into? I loved this the moment I heard life. Guess tracks like DOM were harder to get into

Nah, nothing like "this is hard to listen to" I just think the overall tone and Devin's vocals are just incredibly obnoxious for some reason but I'm starting to dig it even if this is my 5th time trying to listen to this.

Terria on the other hand took a hella long time to get into, now I'd say it's one of the best albums I've ever heard

This is his best album.
I love his vocals but they can be pretty over the top at times.
