This deserves a 5 far more than Alligator does.

Also, TMobo, it's not really all about the vocalist... I think a big part of actually "getting into" The National is just about getting used to how they construct their melodies.

yknow, i never liked the national that much. brainy and fake empire were good i thought, but i could never get into boxer.

but i picked this up to try to fill out my 2010 list, and at first i felt the same way, but slowly this had just been blowing my god damn mind.

It's like, songs like Bloodbuzz Ohio on first listen seem like they don't accomplish enough, there's no overtly emotional factor that I can connect with. But after awhile I realized that that's just about the best part. Everything's so beautifully understated, it's like instead of all the emotion coming out to me and getting right in my face, i have to reach out to find it, but its all still there and when i do it hits about twice as hard.

In Runaway, there's a lot of emotion in his voice, it's just not how I'm used to hearing it, but the building and changing of the instruments behind it are just as important if not more.

sorry for my rant, im just really happy that i finally get all the hype here.

I think I like sad songs for dirty lovers as much or more than this.

Alligator and boxer are both in my top 15 albums ever this might make my top 100 but probably not.

This is better than SSFDL, but not by all that much. Boxer is better than most albums.

This was well worth the hype. Now gotta add Alligator and Boxer to my ridiculously long list of albums to check out.
