i dislike that people are starting to approach this album for the first time like its revered and paramount and holy. i dislike that people are expecting to be moved and to connect with the general sentiment, or to find it epic or genius. i think this numbs whatever experience you would've had. when i first listened to this, i was very pleasantly surprised. i feel like now, after 83 pages of discussion and little 5 ratings above posts and a year-end list, people listen to this with very little of that mystery and it kind of kills it. they know everything about it; what the best songs are, what it sounds like, the best one-liners, who else likes it, what other publications thought - i'd hate to come into this album with that knowledge.

Yeah but you can't unhear hype. You can pretend to forget that you heard amazing things about an album, but in the back of your mind you will still expect something phenomenal. In that sense I am glad that I heard this album early enough. It was still getting a lot of attention at the time but it wasn't being hailed to the extent it is now.

Kirgasm I'm calling bullshit on what you just said. Look at your favourite albums. Most of them be it Born to Run or Daydream Nation you went into fully aware that 1000's of people preach about these all the time about being the greatest thing ever. Does that make them any less special, no. Cause when an album is this fucking good it doesn't matter what anyone says about it.
