Why not? All songs rule. There are even 16 tracks on the international version.

If the songs don't rule though it lessens the experience. I don't know, doesn't seem like a huge amount of variety here, which I think is needed for this many tracks.

I probably shouldn't question it because if the album was condensed considerably the result would most likely be the same for me.

Opinions man, it's really funny how these things work. For me the best experience here is to listen to the whole album from beginning to end as i can feel the individual songs best this way.

There's lots of variety on this too. Yeah, there's a lot of the typical alt-rock style stuff on this, but songs like Limo Wreck, 4th of July, Like Suicide, Head Down, Half and Kickstand are all pretty different styles ranging from psychedelic jams to straight-forward punk. And the rest is all well performed and written too.

That being said, it took me very long time (about two years) to really click with this, and I've heard many say the same.

Same. Actually all of their albums took a long time to click with me, but once they did Soundgarden quickly became my second favorite of the big four.

King Animal is not on the level of this, but its pretty good. It's just that the opener is garbage.

is 4th of July the most underrated songs on here?

it wasn't a single and it's packed way at the end of the album.
