I really do like Nightmares and Ruin but this album did improve Architects I think and adding that melodic sound was great and I think really added to it, and I think it did make it more accessible to a wider range of people, cause as much as technicality is nice it does alienate people, because simple is better, look at Dream Theater, as great as their music is at times, the technicality of Petrucci's guitar turns some people off. I feel this album is more free and lucid, and on ruin the technicality feels like it's being forced and out of place.

cheeseball choruses can be a lot more alienating to some people than some halfway tehcnical guitar playing.
