Poor Odal, poor ash, we should leave them be and let them believe still.

Storm In A Teacup I swear on your mum, you force one more anti-hippo on me and I'll eat both you and it alive with no ranch

"This anti-hype feels a bit forced, no? lol"
Kinda the opposite. The last time a band was so dunkable it was either 30 Seconds to Mars in early 2010s or Weezer in late 2000s.

Band is dunkable as hell, yet also sometimes actually erm pretty good, no? Especially on here

This band is incredibly dunkable in the way that most are when they rise to the top and are overly earnest.
I disagree with the statement that the hype has totally deflated from them. They put out a live album last year that consisted of new, lower-stakes material to merely prevent cobwebs of forming. It ruled, in my opinion (and crushed when I saw them live), but it was also advertised and accepted as not being the true follow up to Ants. It feels a bit premature to say the band's hype has gone away, especially when they are still drawing huge crowds and are well-regarded. People are gonna be chomping at the bit for the next record when it's announced. If it ends up sucking, well, you can at least say that the band was THE It Band for like a year. But I would be pretty shocked if they fell off a cliff, quality-wise

A live album never gets as much attention as a studio one, just wait until they release their next.
I mean you can dislike this band all you want, but that doesn't mean you're the majority lol

I will not go through 73 pages of takes, but I guess I’m minority here with the opinion that the debut ruled and this was a balloon full of sweet smelling gas. But it grew so big, people couldn’t help but notice and appreciate. I’m willing to reconsider if the 3rd record turns out to be better than Ants.

You poor souls trying to block out that they only deflated cuz the singer left the band when they released this album.

I don't think we are blocking anything out.
Saying they are deflated is just, like, factually untrue at this point lol It's okay if you didn't dig the live album but it was a tertiary release.

About to relisten to both their albums just out of spite

This truly was lightning in a bottle. I really hope they’re able to shrug off the hype and the pressure and find their lane.

Btw, is there any news on new material dropping anywhere soon, or are we just discussing what-if scenarios?

Haven't kept super close tabs on them, but my understanding is they've worked in a few songs that weren't on Bush Hall into their set and have been actively working towards their next release. They seem to be workaholics so I'd be kinda surprised if it didn't at least get announced this year. There's a chance some Bush Hall songs end up on there, but it's not just gonna be a studio version of that set.

They are def working on new material, just not sure when it'll be out

Good to know. Maybe I should check Bush Hall finally, preferably with the video.

Bush Hall with the video is fantastic.
It's a fantastic release that I reviewed and loved, but you do gotta keep in mind the context of it being basically a group of songs they rushed out in the interest of having material they could play without their old frontman. I think it's awesome regardless, but it does kinda grant it a bit of a curve

Sure, I don’t have high hopes tbh since I didn’t really like Ants, but what do I know? It is commendable in itself that they pulled themselves together so quickly, it takes more effort than criticizing.
