This and Ecailles are both perfect, not a single flaw imo.

Both fives for me as well. One of a few bands with two fives.

Ecailles de Lune and this are the only two Alcest albums worth hearing, to be honest.

Nah, man. They're their best, but you need the others for the full Alcest experience. There is so brilliant stuff on these records

I like Voyages a lot too and while I enjoy Souvenirs and Shelter, I kind of need to be in the mood for gaze to listen. They scratch a different itch than I typically want from Alcest.

Id throw souveniers in with alcest's best, just not nearly as engaging as scales

It’s my lowest rated but it’s still a strong 3.5 for me. I can see the appeal.

Souvenirs is the best, it just completely transports me in a way the other Alcest albums don't quite, Neige hasn't quite managed to evoke the same beautiful nostalgic feel since then.

I appreciate the fact that Neige seems to write whatever style of record he feels like at that time instead of some sort of specific genre expectation. Sticking two completely non-black metal albums in his discog between black gaze albums is an unusual approach for an artist, but with Alcest is just works.

To be honest, it's the only legitimate approach for an artist. And Neige having understood that is certainly one of the reason why I love his work that much. He has the mindset and ability to do whatever feels right for the songs to have.

Yeah! They are going to play Kodama in its entirety this fall, and I'm going! Can't wait.

God I could never forget Alcest. Neige really knows how to stay true and change it up, write what he feels while sounding like a natural progression. That’s hard to do and also make people love it.
