Fave track for me is probably "Cicatriz Esp". The rhythm section goes hard.

That was the song that got me into the band
1. Take The Veil
2. Eriatarka
3. Roulette Dares
4. Cicatriz
The rest are pretty interchangeabl depending on my mood. Fuck i even love Apparatus because it showcases Cedric's vocal range the most, and in the chorus you see Cedric singing completely the opposite from what we knew his range to be at the time, giving us a glimpse of what we hear later on Bedlam. Also, the verses and lyrics are among the best on the album imo

For some reason his high notes in Eriatarka's chorus remind me of Björk, which is a good thing.

his technique is awful, really. and i'm already not a fan of the whole castrata tactic, i don't care how high your range is, it's just grating once you get that high and don't have the proper technique to support it

He's not that technically proficient but he's not awful

and this is all coming from someone who once had this 5d btw
no his technique is pretty much nonexistent, you can tell when he does all those strangled yelps. he's off his breath support a good amount of the time, and only really properly supports when he has to hold out a note. his vowel shaping is also disgustingly bright, which is exacerbated by the stupidly high range he usually occupies.

What is that supposed to mean? Do you see the 5 there anymore? I got rid of that 5 ages ago. You can have you're opinion but don't be an ass about it.

Soooooo by your logic technical proficiency transfers directly to your enjoyment of music?
Ever listen to Daniel Johnston, friend
Ppl dont have to follow the rules to make effective music, just sayin.

If I was all caught up in the technicalities of singing I wouldn't be listening to Porcupine Tree lol so the singer has to be pretty bad for it to bother me.

i'm never really bothered by vocals yeah

there are a lot of reasons I don't like this album, cedric's voice is one of them, but not that major. my primary issue is the songwriting and the general busyness of the album. jesus fucking christ omar, soft sections don't need to be filled with quiet shredding, just slooooow dooooown please. and most of the songs are really not structured effectivelt at all, haphazardly bouncing through ideas without any of them sticking.
bad voices can be done quite well - bob dylan is the obvious example - but cedric doesn't fit into this category. this band is stupidly technical in almost every regard so it's a little incongruous that cedric is such a terrible fucking singer.
I'm not generally bothered by vocals but cedric ticks all my boxes - his range is in the fucking stratosphere, he's so nasally/whiny/whatever, and his tone is so thin.
