Not Aenema or Lateralus but still a pretty good work

Yeah I wont lie, the album seemed a bit weak to me at first. I think if it werent for Vicarious, Jambi and The Pot, I may have given up on it prematurely. I'm glad I didnt.

Vicarious is great, a grower with top notch lyrics and decent musicianship. jambi is good, with a sick but simple guitar solo. Both wings songs are ok, though maybe they do take a few listens to appreciate. The Pot is the best song by far; unreal, groovey, rhythmic bass, totally different kind of vocals by Keenan and solid performances by the band. Unfortunately, and i mean that sincerely, most of the album is forgettable and ok at best - just like you said. I have to give it a 3 out of 5, but The Pot, Vicarious and Jambi would get a 4.5 if they were the entire album.
