Now I’ve encountered fans who claim that unless the song is the next “Deliverance” or “Hex Omega”, it’s not heavy. This is foolishness. This isn’t a death metal album

Yeah cos Hex Omega was so heavy...

At least he said Sorceress was the weakest song, that certainly gets my hopes up.

About the track A Fleeting Glance, Mikael says "The middle section has a heavy riff that makes me think of Toto!". I have no idea how it's going to sound ahah, I'm very curious about it.

This is where I read that, it's a track by track with the band's words: http://teamrock.com/feature/2016-08-26/opeth-s-track-by-track-guide-to-sorceress

That track by track makes me think this is going to be the most 'tribute-y' thing they've done yet. Albeit not necessarily a prog album.

"I wanted the end to sound a bit like Black Mountain Side (from Led Zeppelin’s 1970 debut)"

"That was inspired by Cream, which explains the title. I was listening to Disraeli Gears a lot. I even tried to get that guitar tone."

Definitely. I'm a bit intrigued, though.

"The first single will be Sorceress, the second will be Will O The Wisp and then, I think, Era."

Guess we'll hear something new pretty soon.

Wow, I'm pretty interested in how that will go. Disraeli rules hard. I share Tuna's apprehension a little bit but as long as they keep it original I'll be happy.

Sorceress has grown on me a lot too, frequently jam it now.

Never had any real problems with Sorceress personally. No masterpiece but more than listenable

True, and this time it was resolved pretty quickly which is nice.

Their whole attitude expressed in that track by track regarding wanting stuff to sound like other stuff leads me to think that they won't be keeping it original.

I am intrigued to hear the song that was inspired by Tull's Dun Ringill though. At least that will be the best song that they've ever directly drawn influence from (for me anyway). And Dun Ringill is a folk song so at least that's something different.
