Only bands i care about on that lineup are Mastodon and Opeth, and i dont know if i would even want to see them. Mastodon doesnt have a great live reputation and Opeth is going to be playing music from their newest and most boring album.

Mastodon used to have exciting music but they weren't very interesting to watch. Now their material is less exciting but they're better performers. I've enjoyed them every time except Hunter/Heritage, which was obviously full of songs from The Hunter, which created zero energy.

"zero energy" is exactly how i'd describe them. in both instances they shared the stage w/ with extremely energetic bands (against me! and converge) and really fell flat. sent half the audience to the exits in both instances.

Yeah, I saw them and Dillinger. Dillinger was insane as usual, but Mastodon played like a 2 1/2 hour boring ass set.

Def not a studio band. Their actual music is great live. They just don't run around and stage dive and pump up the audience like, say, Dillinger. I don't care if they're sitting in rocking chairs, I would be thrilled to see Capillarian Crest or Megalodon live.
But I know their catalogue almost note-for-note, so I can see a casual fan being bored.
