"Buckley never needed to scream like that to excel in the ways he did, so that's moot"
and vice versa

and Johnny he definitely knew of them, they had a big following in eureka which is in Northern California, and is quite small in fact. so they were big news. he didn't catch any of their stuff from what ive heard but he absolutely knew them and of them. another funny tidbit is my aunt dated dave from counting crows for a long time. northern California was soooo ripe with music during my parents youth!!

Jeff could definitely hit a scream like that as it isn't indicative of octave range

Ehm yes it is? The scream at 1:25 in the song is higher than every note Buckley ever sang from what I've heard

Bet she was hot to date all those dreadlocks...ah....easy this one...jokes aside, that must feel supercool to grow among our idols. We Europeans (or mostly me lol) don't have much of that I guess.

"Ehm yes it is? The scream at 1:25 in the song is higher than every note Buckley ever sang from what I've heard" wasn't it from one of his 200 distorted mics?

I don't think he had that 6 octave range when he was like 25 anyway lol, I actually think Buckley's voice was more advanced than Patton's when he died. though you have to be born with Patton's range but you also have to unlock as he has later in life

Then what's your point?

it's sad that we will never find out what Buckley could have become as both a singer and guitarist had he lived as long as Patton has

it just so happened that they grew up in a hot bed for musical talent, and really all other forms of entertainment for that matter. I mean imagine California in the '60s

that Buckley has a better voice and it isn't based on octave range it is based on what you can do with your respective range. and that the scream Patton hits in that song isn't even very impressive and he has significantly better examples of his octave range on other songs that while Buckley could not hit could make sound better due to more advanced breathing techniques and use of vibrato
