In hindsight regarding the band breaking up, I feel particularly thankful they recorded this album the exact way it is. I think ALLB captured some really exciting musical moments throughout their time together, and I also feel like No Place is still their most obvious source of creative innovation from vocals to production style, from instrumentation to album concept.

It tries a lot of new things, it's safe to say, and surprisingly many of them still hold up for me today. I agree with Steak above, heh - Hands Over Mouth is particularly gorgeous, but this album also has got those more aggressive, volatile moments like "Recluse" and "No Nature" that really bring the whole thing together. Still have all them college nostalgias upon listening to this one.

I agree, this album is perfect the way it is. I'd explain how it's perfect, but you explain it yourself in that comment, along with your review ;]

< 3 y'all r the best !! i miss you all too : )

i've been working on music mostly this last year or so, actually -- doing mostly ambient-influenced electronic stuff which has been real fun! My recent tracks are accessible thru this link:

https://soundcloud.com/indigonowhere

Have been spending a lot of time at my job and also doing some production work, for myself and for friends as well. It's rly cool to come back to music from the vantage point of being the one to write the tunes, instead of writing about them. I love music writing & think it's so important, but I have personally found so much unique contentment & gratification thru the process of creation / writing, that puts a lot of other things in perspective in terms of music in general. It seems the more experience you get w/ production, the more you observe thru the music you listen to everyday -- it inherently makes every listening experience so much more worthwhile : )

What have y'all been up to -- what have we been mostly listening to, or just up to in general? Both of you are v sweet!

That sounds dope, I'll be sure to check out your stuff! I've been just exploring what the world of 2018 has in store for me musically, found some cool proggy post hardcore acts, metalcore acts, etc. Coletta is a really good young band that shares similar styles to DGD and ALLB and the like

If I see a Jade review in the future tho that'd be dope ;]]]] but keep on rocking with the music

that's awesome Jade, i'mma jam your stuff at work. still in the journalism game (not music journalism unfortunately but hey). I'd love to actually make music some day but I'm also very conscious that I'm not as good at any instruments as I'd want to be to start writing

this year I've been listening to a lot of Rolo Tomassi, Typhoon, All the Luck in the World (thanks Sowing), Son Lux, a little Brandi Carlile, and this week, a lot of Gang of Youths, Frank Turner and Republic of Wolves. Been a great year so far musically

edit: your music is great, this is very much my kind of electronic music, nice work!

i legit was thinking "it would be cool if they did a farewell tour with Kurt" but this is probably the closest thing. i'm glad they can end like that though. unfortunately, i wont see it if it wasn't part of some fest and it was just them playing a long ass set i'd probably heavily consider going

wondering if kurt would sing along with some divisi songs, seeing as cory could barely handle them live, or if they'll just do older material

also this is fucking five years old already, damn
