the final moments of Burnt Year are so perfect (not unlike the rest of the track) - no vocals at all so all you are left with is this mournful feeling of dread, thinking 'what the fuck did I just listen to"

Why does this get quiet and then loud again in between tracks? Is mastering across tracks not a thing with these guys?

I'm a basic bitch so I'm on YouTube music...probably a mistake on my part lol but one song ending is super loud then the opening of the next track is very quiet. It's most noticeable from the intro to the second track

Still the best album I've ever heard. Absent in Body's single harkens back to this release, I'm really hoping to see something new that can even hold a candle to this.

You couldn't be more wrong. This is like the utmost generic take on post-metal, black metal, dark metal, whatever you want to call it (done well to a certain degree of course). Real metal is something you can feel and this only latches onto ideas that have been driven too far for it's own good and thus, not making for the most exciting thing in the world. I've listened to so much metal over my life and I'm sorry to say, Altar of Plagues are 21st century metal like a 10000 other bands.

first handful of pages for this thread did not age well in the slightest. wouldn't recommend

was it always so pretentious? there's just countless fights over 5'ing an album either "ur an idiot it was too soon" or people justifying 5'ing it "i've listened to this 5 times already111"
