Call of Ktulu might have something to say about that.

Ktulu feels like it tells a story and takes the listener somewhere. Orion is just an awesome jam piece.

Your argument is valid.

Call of Ktulu is not only superior to Orion, it is also arguably the best piece of music Metallica has ever created. Orion is also easily one of the top 5 Metallica songs, though.

OK, Orion is not a song. Other than that I am right.

neither of those statements are remotely accurate, but they are just opinions. I think it's the liberal use of the word "easily" that really gets me though.

Because 'song' implies that there is singing. What would you consider their best song/instrumental?

ok so there's no such thing as a "rap song" unless it has singing too?
obviously I'm just being an ass (sorry, just realized you were new to the site -- welcome!)
is your username from the beer? because I love that brew, got some in my fridge right now...

the best piece of music they ever wrote from an instrumentation standpoint is Master of Puppets. From the Godly riff, to the amazingly gorgeous slow section, to the kick ass solo, to the tempo change back to heavy, and then the Godly riff again.
