You've got an awesome journey ahead of you man! I've been a rabid dm fan since like 06-07 and I've done a ton of jamming and still discover new stuff constantly. The well of awesome albums especially from the 90's era is endless.
You should check out Morgue- Eroded Thoughts. Love recommending that album and hopefully you haven't heard it yet

I know one of the members Brad had another project going called Absconder not long ago. He'd sent me a demo of theirs to review that was pretty damn solid. I'm pretty sure they dropped a full length also although I haven't checked it. Since they're local to you I bet you could catch a show from them at some point if you're into the whole concert thing.
Illinois has a lot of awesome death metal bands. Think Cardiac Arrest is my favorite one that's still active. Bones is another one that's pretty cool. Nice crusty dm with a little Motorhead sprinkled in. Recommend them both when you've got time.

I think you should jam Depths of Depravity a couple times. That bass opening is the sickest thing I've ever heard, just as sick as all the other sickest things I've ever heard.
And The Invoking has the best solo on the record? Probably. Love their guitar tone on this.
