Agreed, Its really strange but ive become friends with him over the last year or so. A long story I wont go into. Lifes fucking crazy sometimes. But hes the best dude too. A real, genuine great guy. No ego. I always imagined him being more sombre than what he is for some reason. Top guy.
As you mentioned 'A season in the sky' is an unmatchable scott kelly moment for me.

Honor was FIVE years after this. They were all ready well into there 40s. Its to be expected. I love both the last 2 records also. Theyre like post-given. Im fine with that. Everyone wants there fave bands to be churning out classic after classic and very few do. Neurosis did that for a looooong time (some would argue still) So why every thread about old Neurosis records people have to shit on the new ones I dont know. It is what it is man.

I do like Honor a lot, it's great even though it's not on this level. The new one just hasn't grasped me at all, maybe I haven't listened to it enough

Funnily enough Casting of the ages is one of the greatest songs they play live. Its incredible, I wasnt even a huge fan of it until seeing it live. I get why people who maybe love old Neurosis dont like the new one, I do. But for me as my friend said its a perfect,distillation of everything that makes neurosis,neurosis at this point in time.
