Yeah, don't ever buy the shirt but this record is one of the greatest, period. So influential and the atmosphere is one of a kind.

It's sterling. I honestly wish the production was closer to their live sound though.

I feel like if you like Burzum, Joy Division isn't much of a stretch at all.

It has been years and years of revisiting this album with a rejuvenated optimism that I'll garner some newfound love and appreciation for it, especially as I've ventured more and more into the depths of post-punk. But I still think this is merely "good," and I honestly can't even explain why I don't think it's great.

Closer, however, is one of the greatest albums of all time. (And, in my opinion, does everything that this album tries to do, but successfully.)

(This is where SandwichBubble comes in and makes a sly remark like "Look at how they massacred my boy!")

I mean taste is pretty subjective, you ultimately don't have to love this even if many people do. I honestly return to this more than Closer even though they're of similar quality. And concerning Dauði Baldrs, Hermoðr Á Helferð is actually a fantastic song. And the album doesn't suck altogether. lol It just has the timbres and quality of a PS1 Final Fantasy instrumental.

The songs on Closer are better suited to Hannet's atmospheric production, for one thing IMO. Love both to death but Closer is just on another level.

album hasn't aged super duper well imo and plenty of stylistically better post punk bands have come and gone but this gets influence points

also the bbc live recording for she's lost control is solid fwiw, one of my fav live performances for some reason
