I'm not a big fan of the Reich hire. I was 100% team Wilks, I think he inherited an absolute clusterfuck and made the team .500-ish competitive right off the bat. He won the locker room over immediately and took a season that the Panthers' organization itself gave up on and made it viable. If it weren't for the Jaycee Horn injury, we probably would have been in the playoffs. It reeks of Dave Tepper and his inane quest to move the team as far away from the Ron Rivera era/coaching tree as possible. He hated Rivera and Cam, and Wilks was part of that team (which begs the question as to why he even made Wilks interim HC in the first place).

from a racial perspective as well, its not a great look to replace a black head coach who had the team competitive with a bland white coach who just came off of an embarrassing last 18 months with the Colts

I think Wilks should've stayed with Carolina. He did a good job with what he had and Reich would've been better as an OC IMO. I have love for Reich since he was the Eagles' OC for the Super Bowl run but I'm not super convinced he's head coach material yet.

Yeah, I don't know how Wilks doesn't get a second chance. It does indeed reek of a "good ol' boys" kind of hire. I believe Reich is one of the oldest coaches as well, which is a weak move in the face of a league that is slowing turning to younger talent.

Feels far too safe and far too uninspired for a team that's lacking in identity. Wilks was bringing that to the table. Don't see why you don't roll the dice, especially when the NFC South is down and might be getting even worse.

I don't know if the decision was racially driven or not, but I do know that it's a huge gamble to let Wilks walk when he was the single/only good thing to happen under Tepper's ownership tenure. I'm very disappointed.
