too funny becaude I have all the time in the world at work right now becasue yesterday and today we are giving the ACT to all the juniors , so it gave me time to write 2 reviews, you need to check.
I agree, this is so awesome, but there is something about the mood and texture to Cali and By the Way for that matter that speaks to me, maybe I am getting soft in my old age
and I would say Cali is a modern classic

This album is titanic and amazing, it's unique and still has a lot of their funk vibes. Californication is a more mainstream record but that's the brilliance of it, I think Californication may be one of if not THE greatest commercial rock record of all time. It's so by the book, but it's because it literally wrote the book for a mainstream alt rock record. It's mainstream alt rock bliss.

and you mention by the way, which is a great record in itself, but i wouldn't even consider mentioning it with Cali, nevertheless blood sugar

Plenty of people gave Navarro stick after joining but i appreciate his impact. The more psych sound is a good change of direction too - BSSM couldn't be topped, may as well not even try to replicate it.
Warped is such a classy opener yeah.

Latter half of Californication is tricky. Has a couple of classics (This Velvet Glove, Savior) but a fair bunch of more boring tunes too.
