never heard them but their description on wikipedia sounds amazing lol.
Alchemist was an Australian progressive metal band from Canberra whose style combined death metal, progressive rock, psychedelic, Eastern, Aboriginal and electronic influences

Their album Spiritech is one of my all-timers, definitely recommend a check. If you like it, the run from Lunasphere through Austral Alien is unparalleled imho (and is a really interesting evolution from Death-influenced progressive dm to…weirdo psychedelic metal)

Ha that’s me the older brother. Couldn’t quite get into Alchemist I was mostly into the Warhead Records bands. But I should give them another go

As far as classic Aussie thrash goes I reckon Mortal Sin are my favourite. Had a few of those guys at a show my old band played like a decade ago; they came up after our set for a chat and to compliment my playing. I’m sure they were overstating it but that made my night lmfao. Really nice dudes AND sick riffs!

Be Quiet and Drive feels like Everlong and I love it for that.

im sorry but everlong eats shit compared to bqad
Honestly, the cool take is that Color and Shape is their good album but it’s just the exact same shit they’ve been making for 30 years.

Agreed for the most part wildcard. It’s just slightly better than the good albums that came after and is very much the start of the formula they’ve been using since

Except Everlong jams just as hard as be quiet

I’m being harsh. Foo Fighters aren’t terrible. Hell, as far as mainstream rock goes in 2023, they’re pretty good. Dave really knows how to write a decent hook and he’s obv a very talented musician.
But that just makes it all the more frustrating that he’s been regurgitating the same shit for so long. I’m not gonna sit here and act like I’ve actually listened to every single Foo song, but the shit they put out this year sounds exactly like the shit they put out decades ago. Varying shades of mediocrity with an occasional dash of “huh that was kinda cool”

As long as we're comparing Be Quiet to Everlong, I'd even go as far to say Be Quiet is the Radiohead - Let Down of the entire Deftones discography.

Aside from the like 5 huge songs I already know, I really probably should listen to Radiohead at some point huh
It’s still crazy to me how popular they are, but I’ve prob listened to a grand total of 20 minutes of their music.

It’s not even a matter of not getting into them.
Like, I enjoy their singles, but I guess they never really intrigued me enough to check out literally any of their full LPs.
I mean for fucks sake, they made a James Bond theme that i fucking loved and I still didn’t give them the time of day lol
