The lyrics are great and come straight from Chester’s heart and the abusive experiences he had growing up[2]

@Mort I got into this album at 32 so there's still time for you lol
|

Runaway has all of them Johnny haha
I knew I’d get in trouble for talking bad about forgotten. Should have just left it out of it
@mort yeah I get the lyrics part but isn’t the flow and production kinda mind blowing? Or na?

i just wanna say how grateful i am to have all of these people talk about linkin park with me

Sputnik! The gift that keeps on giving! I was posting in here at some points (of authority) heh in the past. It's a solid album.

^ no denying that

@johnny yeah the rap verses are mostly cringe and dont feel like they have a ton of substance to them
and the sung lines are definitely, like, blocky and clumsy in their own way, but i think they mostly suit the music really well. borrowing that simplicity from pure pop, but injecting angst

"i just wanna say how grateful i am to have all of these people talk about linkin park with me"
Yes! actually 'Runaway' was my fave when this was first released, it's a great "sing along" track in a live setting imo. The weakest track on here these days is 'One Step Closer' - can't remember the last time I listened to it :/ maybe it is oversaturated. Even the remix is no good.

I think one step closer is good. The guitar tone is really cool and it’s a good enough expression of that straightforward pent up rage

the remix is better I think

The remix is awesome as well agreed. I've got so much nostalgia for the original that I can't call it better quite yet but that said I just actually heard Reanimation in full in the last year so maybe in time I'll be there. That switch up in the original is so damn clean to my ears though. Love it
Also if anyone has good recs for stuff similar to Cure I would greatly appreciate it. I don't even know quite what genre you'd even refer to the track as tbh

Dj shadow’s album entroducing is the main thing that comes to mind
in love with a ghost - can I be your internet crush? Maybe? Idk there’s not many instrumentals I can think of with samples and that kinda energy. I could list wacky instrumentals til the day I die though. Oh linkin park - session (obv)

DJ Spooky - Optometry
X-Ecutioners - Built from Scratch
Cut Chemist - The Audience’s Listening
All might appeal to you if you’re looking to go further into turntablism a la Cure for the Itch, though they definitely lean more toward a crate digging, jazz sampling hip hop aesthetic

The only thing that comes close to anything similar for me is this track from the Animatrix soundtrack:
