Don't get me wrong it's essential but it's cobbled together in comparison to this and several others. The magic isn't quite there.

"The magic isn't quite there."

"magic"

This is really ironic considering it's called The Magical Mystery Tour

'i want you' the original doom metal m/

i think mmt is their most emotional album though its more playful and generally not as apparent, most colorful and human anyway

I Want You's basslines are smooth as f*ck, such a great song.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, it's just hard blues rock honestly....

Maybe arguable influence on doom, but deff not prog.

yeah "she's so heaaaaavy" and the final riff are proto-doom, but I don't hear an ounce of prog.

I don't know, I think the way the riff gets heavier and heavier, more distorded, the abrupt ending and the fact that it is the same notes for almost 4 minutes seem pretty experimental to me and since prog is more about the experimentation rather than a similar style (since most prog bands sound totally different) I don't see why it couldn't be considered like that

It's lennons sneery delivery that does it.

yeah i want you definitely is meant to invoke a sense of atmosphere and to be more of an experience as opposed to a conventional song, which are elements of prog, i can see it
