I didn't appreciate Revolution 9 until I tried mushrooms a few times. The song is a pretty much spot on representation of what my thought patterns were like when trippin, also the interspersed John vocal samples make me giggle

I can’t say I love Rev 9, but people who hate it seem a bit extreme me
Only straight up bad song on here is Birthday, rest ranges from okay to amazing
Martha is about Paul’s dog and has great piano and violin parts so that one just straight up rules

Rev9 rules because every time I listen to it I envision the faces people must’ve made putting it on for the first time in ‘68

All in all ya gotta appreciate John because it is his attention whore attitude that allowed stuff like Revolution 9 and On The Road

When you're drowning you don't think "I would be incredibly pleased if someone would notice I'm drowning and come and rescue me". You just scream.

I, too, have opinions about the Beatles - the Beatles
|

some of you have never done it in the road and it shows

This has some of their best work, certainly. Mother Nature's Son is another good one.

It is also very much a 'grower' and most people like it more now than they did when they first heard it.Those who are new to their music are often turned off by it. They come around.

“They come around”
true, unless they die on the hill of their reactionary first listen

rev9 definitely got so much hate because it had no place on a pop rock album and it justifiably melted teeny bopper brains. if you've heard any experimental music at all before tho it's a pretty good song.
|
| |
If this album was a concert rev9 would be when the band walks off before their encore
|
| |
it would be all trippy lights and spastic energy then they’d come floating down with angel wings and lutes and lyres and they’d wish us a good night
|

Revolution 9 is a fitting summation of the storyline of The Beatles. They defied expectations constantly and never cared about playing it safe. The difference is that for most of their career they were able to craft amazing songs while doing so.

You know, glass onion has really grown on me over the years. The orchestral accompaniment doesn’t get enough credit on that track, it’s really nice and gives the song it’s eerie “evil twin of strawberry fields” vibe. Plus it has “the walrus was Paul” line which is legendary.
|
| |
I really think you can make a case for the quality of every song on this besides rev9 and Don’t Pass me By. Some of it is odd but that’s part of what makes this album special.
|
| |
I wouldn’t take either of those songs off the album either, 30 is the magic number

Revolution 9 is absolutely essential to the record
|
| |
The walrus is Paul line is steaming trash unfortunately! Rev 9 literally a million times better

Pretty sure it's ironically referencing obsessed fan scrutiny.
