I listened to the first Crimson album once, I liked the instrumentals a fair bit but as you know I'm a vocals guy and the vocals there just bored me heaps. Starless was a pretty good song but I dunno the rest of Red.

Yeah man I'll get around to jammin their discog one day. Along with the rest of the big 10 of prog, fuck that's so much to digest :/

Who are the best ones (aside from Floyd, obvs) to go for if I'm looking for great vocals tommy?

Check out Jethro Tull, Rowan. The vocals are really prominent in Tull, plus Ian Anderson is one of the greatest lyricists of all time.

Other prog bands with great vocals are Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), Yes (although their vox are somewhat of an acquired taste for some) and Rush (again the vocals may take some getting used to).

Mmm Jamie has sweet taste from what I've seen on Sput so far, so I'll go with that. Probs won't listen for a fair while cos Prelim exams and shit but I'll get there for sure.

The best Tull album to start with for you would probably be either Thick as a Brick or Minstrel in the Gallery. Usually I'd say Aqualung but the vocals on that album don't sound quite as good as on some of their other albums (partly down to the production).

Geddy Lee (Rush) is one of my personal fav vocalists, but yeah, he's def not for everyone. I'd say the best prog-vocals are Genesis (classic prog - Peter Gabriel) or The Mars Volta (newer prog, alternative - Cedric Bixler), off the top of my head

Anneke is life, agreed.

@Jamie Thanks man, I'll just DL all three and listen when I can.
