Future Breed Machine will hook you real quick.
I'd say this is their second best album next to the Nothing re-release

i can't really figure out my metal sensibilities. i think i love when they have a strong chorus and melodies and if they don't it's a lot harder for me to get into. i have my post punk / electronic / new wave / industrial sensibilities down pat and i think i know how i like my hip hop also but i still can't figure out what kinda metal makes me tick.
devin townsend is about the only metal musician i can always find shit to love and vibe with. i like the chugging guitars and aggression but i think it's got to have an emotional core that goes along with it. which is funny because that prereq does not apply to any other genres i like. wtf is up with my ears

> Shuggah will make you feel godlike
thats why combustion is my fave from them
> well even that varies right
yeah, i think so. with music i really like (ATR for example) that plays a role but it's also a lot of other things like aesthetics. the aesthetics of the music are really important because i have synesthesia and tend to visualize music

but yea meshuggah are one of the best examples i can think of of a sterile mechanical aesthetic in metal... not in the cashgrabby and overproduced sort of way, obv
but the opposite of emotional kinda

Catch 33 it's the hardest sell on this band tbh, but the pay off is huge

"but the opposite of emotional kinda"
Their music always has this very cold and non human approach
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
yea it's interesting i can def get behind that. the notion of acting as an unrelenting unfeeling machine thru music is quite nice and i absolutely get that out of a lot of my industrial and ebm (acumen nation / ministry specifically). but not as much from non industrial metal from some reason
funny how different sounds accomplish the same things for different ppl

fear factory might be more up your alley idk

demanufacture is pretty good but somethin always felt missing with that band
needs more grime. fear factory is like a well-oiled machine. give me unrelenting machines that sound like they were built in a backalley falling apart chugging away regardless lol. thats why i love FLA so much - their sound strikes the perfect balance
