Depending on where you are As Cities Burn and Emery are also supporting. Both are good but Emery in particular is fantastic

Yup Emery. Vaguely familiar but I'll have to listen to more.

Yeah honestly no one sounds like ABR to me. The standard mxc elements are there but they're definitely in their own lane imo

Yeah, no one's ever done it quite like these guys. AOTWK is the closest that came to mind, maybe Phinehas, but they've got more of that melo core dna

Phinahas are the closest that I can think of. There was also another small metalcore band back in the days that used to be pretty similar to ABR. It was The Soulless IIRC.

first i the breather album is closeish as well. but for me a lot of melocore stuff like aotwk and phinehas are way more shreddy than abr is. same genre but sound distinctly different to me. especially abr's later albums with more progressive elements. like idk what else sounds like found in far away places.

do ya'll not remember back in 2009-2010 when people would say August Burns Red and Texas in July were practically the same band?

Idk, the songwriting on I Am was very idetntical to this album. I always thought the comparison was warranted.

yeah it's vaguely similar to me. this has so much more juice in the songwriting department and the china smacking and breakdowns here just stand out so much.

some of the coolest sounding drums ever, it's so front and center but sounds awesome. rare feat.

That's because TiJ straight up aped ABR hard. They were from the same area and good friends. Adam fills in on drums for ABR all the time. But TiJ was always a mega poor man's version the songwriting differences were magnanimous. Most TiJ stuff was run of the mill except Bloodwork is filthy.

But yeah I mean there are a few bands that def tried to mimic ABR but like futures said I don't think anyone touches them not just in quality but true style. Those others are more metal and shreddy and ABR has some quirk but also viciousness

@Futures Agreed. They kinda neutered them on the remaster though.

I'm reluctant to consider "I Am" run of the mill even if it was derivitive of ABR. The albums after it, sure.
