Only the occasional cheesiness keeps this from being near perfect

The transitions in Overture and Strange Déjà Vu are next to perfect though.

I just don't like Portnoy's double kick abuse. It's so tasteless to me now.

The keyboards and bass being lower in the mix always pisses me off, especially when you can hear them well in the live performances and realise how much they add to the music

Agreed. At least the bass is somewhat audible on here. That was the first thing I noticed when I started playing this earlier.

It's low in the mix, the tone and playing are brilliant. I love Myung's groove on One last time, especially during the solo. It's things like that that the band have stopped doing. Their music just isn't that fun anymore. Looking glass and Surrender were more pleasant surprises on the new album. They need to loosen up, like they did on FII

This is album is perfection. Love closing my eyes and just losing myself to it.

Regression is such a powerful opener. "Hello Victoria, so glad to see you my friend" gives me shivers

Yes! And Finally Free is just the perfect way to close it. Harrowing and chilling.

One Last Time reprise in Finally Free is otherworldly. I don't think I could like that song anymore.

Man, what happened?!?!

If you're referring to the story, I think the hypnotherapist killed Nicholas.

"open your eyes Nicholas"

It all comes full circle.

This is probably their last album that doesn't give me a headache in some way. Near perfect in almost every way and definitely their peak in terms of lyrics, singing, songwriting, instrumentation... damn, everything.

Oh if you were talking about the story wikipedia explains it. There's also some website where a guy lays the whole thing out

I meant to DT. I'm well aware of that cos the hypnotherapist is the miracle's reincarnation, not that they made that clear
