nah i think this band deserves to be hated by people that aren't suffering from a life long pubescent streak

you have this 5'd, so are you saying that you're going through a life long pubescent streak?

if you're talking in terms of song quality i guess i can see where you're coming from, though i love luca, archers, and handcuffs a lot, but in terms of actual flow of the album i think its brilliant

There's nothing about this album that exclusively caters to pubescent teens or whatever. The topics appeal to anyone who struggles with their faith and existence, i.e. everyone.

don't get me wrong i was just joking around there and i really do think these guys are insanely good songwriters. But the appeal brand new has for a lot of people is precisely the self-wallowing. This is a band that has written an album like Deja Endtendu, with a song called "Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die" and let's not look further than the lyrics of I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't. Now it would be true to say that the appeal of that album almost purely caters to pubescent teens.

As for this album well okay there are topics addressed in here which are as you say, genuine struggles of faith and existence and yes, there is more emotional complexity to be found here than a slipknot album. But these existentialist struggles in this album come across as wussbaggy and narcissistic, or at least immature because of how Jesse bleeds his personality into them.

Okay maybe a bit of an overexaggeration but Mr Lacey is like one of those fruitcakes whose life seems to be a self-fulfilling prophesy
