I honestly think that it’s the weakest track on Sunbather and it kinda upsets me that it’s so much more popular than Vertigo and Pecan Tree especially.

Still a 5/5 song, it really helped shaped my music taste into what it is today. A lot of guys will roast me here but I think it’s a great gateway track for people looking to get into black metal and just a great song in general.

oh dude I adore Vertigo. Until this came out it was easily my favorite track from these guys. Winona is unironically just as good tho I’m really not playing when I’m saying it might be my favorite Deafheaven song.

Heathen followed by Amethyst is probably my favorite section on the record, it’s just perfect.

Dream House is great and all but Amethyst = The Pecan Tree = Winona > Mombasa > Sunbather > Doberman > Vertigo > Glint. Top 5 Deafheaven (which I also made top 8 or so). Dream House and Sunbather are 5/5’s for sure but from a band known for nothing but 5/5’s, I find Dream House a weaker moment of Sunbather but that’s just me

I also listened to Luna and Gifts for the Earth today and you can also put them above Dream House too. Like I love this band but I would never put Dream House near their top songs unless that’s the only song I’ve heard from them.

Dream house was the first song I heard by this band and I love it but I wouldn’t put it in top 5 songs or anything

Pecan Tree is their best song, and I may get crucified, but I come back to Baby Blue almost as much lol.

That baby blue my first guitar solo makes that song null and void for me but that’s just me. Other than that that song rules

so much of baby blue hinges on that solo being there, otherwise it's just post-rock and then some generic chugging. :|

Yeah… Pecan Tree has been my favorite of theirs for a decade or more. Amethyst and Winona rival but that’s more just to say how damn phenomenal this album is rather than a blow to that song. You can shuffle up my tops of this band and I’ll agree with it. Pecan Tree always at the top of course.

New tones slaps but this is still my AOTY and I don't think that's gonna change
