I heard a song on the radio the other day and it made me really emotional

then I realised it sounded exactly like Smells Like Teen Spirit but it came out after Kurt Cobain died

then the emotion disappeared

like obviously that can be one of a myriad of components of emotional expression in music but that is completely artist dependent and also hinges on the listeners personal perspective and interpretation. saying uniqueness = emotion is p r e p o s t e r o u s

I only ever really connected deeply with Blink as a kid but tell me Tom DeLonge doesn't have one of the most instantly recognisable voices in music (for better or worse lol)

I have to believe she made You Missed My Heart her own because no one ever mentions it was one of the 700 songs Mark Kozelek wrote last decade, or it could just be that his association would work to the song's detriment.
