I do like Out of Mana and 137 a lot. I usually really enjoy slower songs/moments from the band. Not sure what happened.

What song is it that mentions cutting? I cringe at that one. I haven't paid much attention to the track names.

No one is going to hold a gun to your head and force you to enjoy this (well not me, at least) but I have to say I'd be shocked if this doesn't at least get to a 3.5/4 by the time you get your vinyl. Science Fiction is possibly better than Daisy for me, which at this point is a close second to TDAG. I listen to it daily, sometimes twice daily, and it doesn't get old. It's perfect in its own way, just like every Brand New album is. I'm still stunned they pulled this off to be honest, I was expecting a half-hearted "I Am a Nightmare" return to roots. This absolutely cements their legacy.

@dbizzles: the cutting line is from Same Logic/Teeth -
So you decide to make incisions at your home while you're alone, all alone
But you're no tailor, you're no surgeon, none of your cuts go very straight

Figures it's the best song on the album he dislikes.

I actually enjoyed "I Am A Nightmare" and "Mene" when they came out, solid jams
|
| |
Also, I don't quite get why "Could Never Be Heaven" gets panned negatively a lot, shit's beautiful

I Am a Nightmare and especially Mene were enjoyable for me too, but in a different - lessened expectations sort of way. They didn't have that Brand New feel. That palpable emotion and creepiness.

I just hope the inevitable Underoath return album is as strong as this.

"Mene" just sounded like a Daisy B-side, which I was cool with it. It was hard to label "I Am A Nightmare", to me it was like a cut written around Deja but given the maturity around Daisy. I dunno, haha.

"Could Never Be Heaven" started as my least favorite off this so I get the negativity towards it, but my recommendation to those people would be to pay careful attention to the lyrics. The imagery reminds me of a mewithoutYou song. It's the kind of candlelit acoustic song that I imagine means something to them, but they probably won't play it much live.
