Interesting interview specially this piece:

"Obviously some people want us to record the records that they want to hear, basically a rehash of Blackwater Park or Ghost Reveries. And it's impossible for us to do that, so they can complain for all of eternity."

Instead we rehash prog rock music from the 70's!

I honestly think the man doesn't understand what the problem is with the newer Opeth material. We cbf to care about the genre. It's just not inspired music.

But Akerfeldt has always written what he feels like, so there's that. But his current inclinations just aren't adventurous like old school Opeth. I thought Heritage was a good stepping stone onto something really different, but PC is nothing special.

One thing to look forward to on the new album is Axe's drumming

Reading the guy's opinion I can say that it's the same rehashed boring shit.

lol dude don't get me wrong I love Opeth, I just think transitions have never been their strongest suit. Their songs have always sort of gone from one idea to the next without too much thought.

I know what you meant, I just disagree, they used to write some beautiful seamless transitions back in the day imo

Eh. Some of them are alright, but for the most part they've always been kind of choppy. Bleak is definitely nowhere near the worst offender.

Morningrise is my favourite Opeth album, but it's definitely not because of the transitions lol

Best transitions are probably in Still Life
