In terms of upcoming albums I'm all about the new War on Drugs, Steven Wilson, and The National.

2017 has had so many disappointing albums, so I'm skeptical of just about every release at this point.

War On Drugs and National for sure.
Idk even though everybody and their cousin seems to be releasing an album this year I've found this year pretty weak overall so far.

I felt that way about last year Boney. And you should check out Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson.
I don't think I've been disappointed with much of anything this year, except maybe a little bit with Damn by Kendrick Lamar, and a lot of Humanz by Gorillaz.

As far as new records, kinda excited to listen to the just-dropped Lorde and Thugger tho

I'm pretty sure Steven Wilson isn't really my thing Talons; I don't prog much
There have been a lot of good albums this year but not many amazing ones imo.

Wilson does a lot more than prog, in fact his new album will draw a lot from 80's art pop rock like Peter Gabriel, Talk Talk, and Kate Bush but suit yourself

You know it’s bad when Lorde is gonna be better than their new album. Their new single is so bad. Nothing can redeem “Creature Comfort”. “I’m With Her” is almost worse, but considering the fact that I almost consider that song as satire while “Creature Comfort” is serious makes it about the worst song of the decade. It’s terrible. Jesus Christ. You know when you come along something that makes you wonder how it’s impossible to go south from there... well thanks, Arcade Fire. You went there. Worst single of the decade.
And for the love of god, trying to do a falsetto does not make you Kate Bush. Regine needs to chill out.
Reflektor was a near masterpiece. How did we get to this garbage?

Damn whaaaaat? I absolutely loved Creature Comfort, destroys the first single they released
|
| |
this album was mediocre as fuck so it's not like you guys weren't aware they're sloping downwards
|
| |
creature comfort is a tune, 'worst single of the decade' is completely off base
|
| |
I can see why somebody would find it jarring but I think it's great. One of their most interesting songs since Neon Bible.

SIGNS OF LIFE RULES. Perfect evolution from this album
Creature Comfort was like a -0.3/5. So bad. Sry.

Listening to all 4 songs they've released since Reflektor, I really like "Everything Now," and "Signs of Life" is pretty good but I'm not big on the lyrics.
I'm not into "Creature Comfort" or "I Give you Power," but the latter might not even be on the new album, so assuming that, 2/3 new singles have been great, and excitement for the new one is still warranted I suppose haha.
