in terms of having interesting melodies and actually coming up with memorable tracks from start to finish this is by far their best outing

What interesting melodies bruh, Brand New Eyes had those in spades, and it was actually consistentt

in particular i think Ain't It Fun (One Of Those) Crazy Girls, and Daydreaming are all brilliant, but I don't have anything negative to say about anything on this album

All those songs are p. much standard pop songs, there's nothing unique or interesting about them other than "Daydreaming" being catchy

i don't really see the "standard pop" critique when there's really not many groups off the top of my head that sound like them on the album, plus it makes no sense when compared to their other material which could easily be hit with the same shallow critique, just replace pop with pop-punk or alt rock

they're pop songs, but they're extremely well done and some of the best tracks in the genre from the past three or so years, so that qualifies as interesting to me

Most pop acts are junk with decent singles so saying this belongs with "some of the best" isn't actually saying much, objectively speaking.

"there's really not many groups off the top of my head that sound like them on the album"
check: all of Glee's albums
"plus it makes no sense when compared to their other material which could easily be hit with the same shallow critique"
difference is, those songs were good. beside, i'm not really chastising them for being standard, it's just disagreeing with you saying they've got "interesting melodies"
"some of the best tracks in the genre from the past three or so years"
check more pop

there's been quite a few really great pop albums the past few years, so it does say quite a bit

"check more pop"
because you obviously could only like this that much out of ignorance, right?
"difference is, those songs were good. beside, i'm not really chastising them for being standard, it's just disagreeing with you saying they've got 'interesting melodies'"
the critique was literally that they were just standard pop, and therefore not interesting

"the critique was literally that they were just standard pop, and therefore not interesting"
which is correct

"i'm not really chastising them for being standard"
but then you also said this, so which is it?
|
| |

regardless, they're still incredibly strong tracks despite how standard they might be, which isn't unlike the state their previous material found itself in
|

"but then you also said this, so which is it?"
I'm saying you're wrong
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0 | Sound Off
and i'm saying it's a really shallow critique, but that's cool too
