Seriously at the time AIC were a second tier metalhead courting drug addict kinda scrotty band and not considered all that - behind Soundgarden in terms of how seriously they were taken.
I like them, they were the bridge act between metal and grunge, but if you were to tell me all these years later people on forums would be wanking themselves silly over them ahead of Nirvana, a proper changed everything in the music scene and killed it live with a genius of a frontman (undeniable), then I would have been shocked.

"not considered all that" doof is literally your only excuse for anything ever what people in the 90s thought of it? broaden those views man
Nirvana certainly changed everything by commercialising the shit out of grunge and making post-grunge possible while the other bands were actually making real grunge agreed

No, I thought that back then and most people thought the same because Nirvana were there killing it. Look how many official live albums have been released for each band - read between the lines. Nirvana were one of the greatest mainstream live bands of all time (undeniable). Kurt was a natural, you can tell these things, it was there for all to see.
I'm a fan of Alice in Chains but it's like someone telling me Anthrax were where it was at ahead of Metallica and i should now prefer them because of a backlash/reappraisal. You can have that opinion, I'm not going to agree because I know how I felt at the time and know what I enjoyed at the time.

Nirvana weren't One Direction, they became huge on merit you dopes - read up your history
Bleach wasn't pimped to the rafters, they did their time. They were just, y'know, a musical revelation

"Look how many official live albums have been released for each band"
ah yep a DEFINITE indicator of quality is how many shite live albums the label pumps out to milk their reputation yuuup, opinion changed

Row bands with a great live reputation tend to have more live albums released - are you going to deny this. Please do because it will totally undermine everything else you write in the thread.

ALA Alice in Chains aren't bad taste, but very few people feel strongly enough to hold them up as a top 20 band.
I was only having a little nibble at you

no I'm not gonna deny that I'm just saying it means absolutely nothing in terms of the band's actual quality

I haven't even started arguing Kyuss were 'just another band' in 94 when Sky Valley came out xD

I seem to have more arguments about not liking bands enough who I in fact still like quite a lot here than arguments about bands I don't like at all. Arse about tit.
