Disc 1 of Six Degrees is one of their least cheesiest
|
| |
The songwriting isnt very good though. It was the start of them drifting off too much into random instrumental passages for half a song.

Disc 2 of Six Degrees probably does that the best out of their 00's albums, I don't think any songs exceed seven minutes

"drifting off too much into random instrumental passages for half a song."
to be fair they did that with Metropolis Pt. I though
|
| |
They integrated those parts much better back then. I actually think that passage in Metropolis fits quite well and have never had a problem with it.

yea because old DT is inherently good and recent DT is inherently bad
|
| |
Recent DT is just bad full stop. The wank wasnt anywhere near as prominent in the 90s.

If SDOIT was only the first disc, it'd be at least a 4.5.

The wank in the 90's certainly felt more genuine when they did resort to it

Yeah, there's a decline after Scenes. It's not as drastic as most people make it out to be.

Six Degrees was their last great album.

Meh, maybe, but I always prefered ToT and SC (yes) to 6 Degrees.

SC is pretty awful and ToT is pretty poor too.

SC isn't that bad but really don't like ToT that much tbh. Six degrees totally destroys both though.

SC is just completely bland and useless virtuosic demonstration 60% of the time. Plus, I think The Ministry of Lost Souls is the lenghtiest filler I've ever heard

I used to think the same but there are some pretty cool riffs to be found on SC and The Ministry minus the wank would be a totally awesome track. Definitely prefer SC to ToT.

I won't say there's no wankery in SC, because I love it just because it is pure jerking off with instruments. It's like watching a mediocre movie and enjoying the hell out of it. Now ToT must be higher in my mind because it's shorter than 6DOIT and I have a thing with lengthy albums: I don't appreciate them that much.

6D is one of my favorites, especially disc 2
|

Its definitely better than anything after, but I just dont dig the sound of that record.

Scarred is the best on this
