JT: aww dude, FOABP was the album that eased me into them and apart from Way Out of Here, I think it's pretty awesome especially the title track. Nostalgia speaking there but in general, it's not that bad

PT is good but not the greatest. In Absentia is the only album I liked all the way through. I thought Stupid Dream was rather dull, and Deadwing and FOABP good but not amazing. I need to dig into them more to make up my mind.

Yeah I agree on In Absentia and Stupid Dream. IA is my fave PT album.

Shame, Deadwing is my favourite album of all time but I'm well aware that I'm quite alone in that opinion and its heavily influenced by nostalgia.

Sky Moves Sideways is probably their best work from the first part of their career

The Sky Moves Sideways and Up the Downstair are the only PT albums I like all the way through. I like the Staircase Infinites EP a lot as well. I dislike everything they've done since Signify, which had some great moments but also some that make me cringe.

DT will prob always be one of my least fave major prog metal bands; although this, Scenes, and Awake are respectable albums.

I wondered why you had Sig 3.5'd JT, now I know the reason.

I have it (Signify) rated fairly highly as it has just enough great moments for me to consider it 'great' but it was a transitional album where the (annoying) elements that would become part of their later sound started to creep in.

Obv we won't agree there, but whatever.

We obv disagree on Agalloch too, although evidently you're not too big
on them.

Anyone else think that Surrounded is underrated? It may be cheesy, but it has some really cool instrumental sections.

I still prefer Pale Folklore to Ashes Against the Grain, but both are amazing

Every song on here is great. It has a little cheese here and there, but doesn't every good meal?

the cheesiness is what makes this their best album and superior to Awake or Scenes
