this does kinda go down like prog rock for me nowadays compared to the rest of their albums, definitely not the sludge band they turned into quite yet
this one is way more herky-jerky while the others are a bit more lumbering

Best Neurosis album, by far. Only one I really ever listen to.

I have Enemy of the Sun at a 4.5 and Through Silver in Blood at a 4, but the difference between them and Souls at Zero at 4.8 is pretty damn vast, IMO.

I’m in agreement with Willie. This album is simply in a tier of its own compared to their other stuff. I’ve enjoyed most of what I’ve heard so far, but this one seems untouchable.

I won't argue, but I disagree just a tad. Band has multiple classics.

I would say Souls is generally popular with people new to this band and therefore a suitable gateway, but things can often change - then again, Willie's growth appears permanently stunted in this regard, so it's not guaranteed

Funny enough, my gateway was actually Enemy of the Sun (and Lost was the first song I ever heard by them). This one remains my favorite, but the entire discog ranges from great to incredible
