forgot about 'Starless & Bible Black', edited my list to add. i do slightly prefer it to this.
good rank, Pika, though it would be hard to come up with any ranking of their pre-1981 albums that couldn't be argued to some degree. always like seeing 'Red' up top, though. impeccable from start to finish.
also: how do you add comments with no double-spacing between the lines? lol. i only do one line break when i type but Sput throws in an extra line space and i never figured out how to override it.

I have no idea. It sometimes does it and sometimes not, for me.

Jamming this record now, and I love the brilliance of Frame by Frame's intertwining guitar riffs. Super fun to listen to.

I should dive into King Crimson more.

This and Red are two of the few Prog Rock albums I can actually listen to without being bored or annoyed by.

This one puts off to check further discog...it is very complex and intricate yes, yet very ugly...

How is this ugly? It's one of the most accessible albums KC have ever done in my opinion.

A matter of personal taste (not good or bad)...can't stand Elephant Talk's aesthetic f.e. To my eyes there's a certain late Genesis vibe I don't dig on the album, maybe its an era issue...that said its a very prolific record, but that's why I feel Red as a five but this one not so much (again, personally).

Well Elephant Talk is the weakest song on here so yeah. The rest is just so damn good and groovy. I don't see the genesis aesthetic though. More a slight talking heads aesthetic. All in all I think it's pretty unique though, like most KC. I just thought you meant ugly as in dissonant wankery or something of the like but if it's the overall aesthetic/production you don't like then I understand.
