A lot of people don't like this record but I think its one of their best and I love how it compliments Damnation perfectly.

The first two albums I got for Opeth was Damnation and Deliverance. I figured it would show me the entire spectrum of Opeth for me. For the most part it did (aside from the jazzy 70s prog stuff on Heritage).

One is all heavy and one is all light. It is like the duality of most their albums broken in two separate albums. You got to see the best of both their halves do their own thing independently and branch out because of it.

Ha. Damnation is not "all light". Damnation could easily stand on its own two feet without Deliverance having ever existed. Two halves, what a laugh.

You do realize that they originally were going to be one album right? I'm not saying they were
"spiritually two halves of the spectrum". I was saying Mikael was like I want a double album with
heavy oriented songs on one and light on the other. The record label was like... no double-album
release split it in half.
