I already recognize it's meant to be one continuous track, but if they decided to split it up, I wouldn't expect them to pull random track times out of a hat. That's what it feels like.

Also, I forgot that Sum is awesome until halfway through the song they stop and place a weird and boring outro.

"The first thing I noticed is how the CD splits the tracks stupidly. Tracks 1-3 are the same riff for example. When I listen to an album, it's usually start to finish but there are plenty of times I go directly to a song I want to listen to. I also know this CD is supposed to be one continuous track anyways but it bothers me I'll never want to listen to Imprint Of The Unsaved (track 2) specifically because it's short, has nothing new or interesting and sounds just like tracks 1 and 3.
The In Death tracks are probably the bigger highlights of the album but it annoys me once again how they split it up."
For an album which is made in one sitting, this is an incredibly stupid and pedantic complaint. Also these track placings aren't random minus maybe track 2 being essentially the same as track 1 musically. The one in 'In Death' split up makes sense because it changes so drastically and lyrically it just gets much darker. Just seeing the song pick up it's gears and see your iPod or playlist change from "Is Life" to "Is Death" is such a cool moment.
"until halfway through the song they stop and place a weird and boring outro."
"Mind's Mirrors is a disgusting filler track with the first half being spoken words over bass string thuds only to start to pick up and drop to annoying alarm noises. Not a fan of this track."
" during the middle point of -Is Death where it becomes just random string notes and silence...making another of the lowest points in the album..."
Do you have a problem with any quiet and atmosphere building tracks or what? All 3 make sense, Mind's Mirrors completely changes the tone of the album and builds up perfectly to make the transition to the second half of the album. Those sounds at the begin are gigantic and terrifying, the vocal effects and lyrics to them fit the theme perfectly. Is Death is not random, at all. All because you don't like it doesn't mean it's randomly placed, each part has a bigger picture and how shrill those guitars sound just makes it even more unsettling. And Sum is like the calm after the storm, leaving you to think about the previous 42-43 so minutes.

I guess I just don't find it building. It's 5 minutes of thuds. There is no way I would randomly get that song stuck in my head and just need to listen to it. What's more is if you cut that piece out entirely, the album would move along just fine.
Sum is good and I get the calm of the storm approach but either end it quicker or make it more interesting. It's fucking Meshuggah! You can't convince me they couldn't make it more interesting.

I must've listened to Entrapment over 10 times this past week. I'll take a slower Meshuggah solo over one of their manic ones any day.
