Beneath The Mire is probably the most fun this album has, I like how they expanded that eclectic part of their sound on Watershed.

It's impressive how Mikael improved on so many levels over the years. Especially his vocal skills and range improved considerably, both in clean singing and growling. His songwriting and technical abilities also have undergone a very natural development and progression so the music still sounds inspired and powerful today. Opeth have an insanely solid discography, very exciting to explore. What a fantastic band m/>_

Harlequin Forest is just perfect. It contains some awesome riffage (the riff and its progression when the growling kicks in) and Mikael's clean vocals are top-notch. Not a single bad track on here... The weakest one for me is probably The Grand Conjuration, but it's still great and creates a very haunting atmosphere.

Yes, I really enjoy it a lot, especially the creepiness you've mentioned. It's just that it's my least favorite on the album which does not make it bad at all for me. Harlequin Forest, Ghost of Perdition, The Baying Of The Hounds and Beneath The Mire are incredibly good. I seriously have to consider 5`ing this.
