No. They definitely do not always do this. In fact the last time I saw them (about 7 months ago) they didn't say a single word to the crowd the entire time, not even between songs. It was like they were purposely ignoring the crowd. Kinda came off as assholes.

Ok maybe they had a bad day or it was one of the later tour dates. I will remember them and Jesse in particular as some amazing dudes for sure. Reason could also be that the last time they were im Vienna was about 5 years ago or so.

idk. most of the time when I hear peoples responses after seeing them live they share the same sentiments that I do. Ill be seeing them for a second time in a couple weeks and they do not have a packed tour schedule this time and will be playing some new tunes and a shorter set so maybe this time will be a little different.

I think the gig was totally awesome dunno why they seem to suck on their US-dates. Maybe cuz they tour there all the time in contrast to Europe.

saw them in september and yeah they pretty much did the exact same thing. it was still the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had though.

That's weird. I saw them last year and Jesse was talking a lot to the audience, easily 4 or 5 times between songs. Afterwards he did an unexpected solo encore.
