I like moshing but I'd be nervous in a Knocked Loose pit for sure

I got my shit rocked in a knocked loose pit once and needed 12 stitches above my eye

I totally believe that just from watching that from afar
I went with my childhood friend, Brittany
She ran right into the pit, I was mortified and ran for beer lol - to be fair, she’s always been more into hardcore and I’ve always been way more into metal so I’m not used to feet and closed fists flying at eye level, hardcore kids are fucking nuts and I’m far too old to tell my family/job I broke my nose at a show lmao
I just went in an immolation/deicide pit a few weeks back, that was much more friendly and courteous to my well being

Damn Wildcard, do you remember the breakdown?
Lucca yeah hardcore people are completely retarded in the pit. They often are out to hurt other people, I hate that. For some reason metalcore has a much healthier culture in that regard

Yeah I don’t really get it tbh - but my friends who are my age (later end of 30s) and who are smaller than me, like my friend I was just talking about, are still about it so I dunno lol

@lucca it's wild reading that an immolation pit was tamer than knocked loose but also i don't doubt it for a second lmao

Ahah oh yeah dude, most of the metal pits I’ve been in for the past like 20 years have been intense, but USUALLY way more of a friendly vibe/helping people when they’re down kind of thing - only a few pits weren’t like that
Meanwhile, nearly every hardcore show I’ve been invited to feels like a fucking mass MMA battle where no one gives a shit if they’re skin is ripping off or their bones and broken lol

Hardcore dancing is best when it's at smaller shows imo. People know the vibes and there is less recklessness in general. As someone who has partook regularly (but more restraint with age), I would also be terrified in a Knocked Loose pit. The genre is bigger than ever making the pits are crazier than ever.

it often feels like a competition about who can be the biggest asshole in the pit. I imagine it's bad for Knocked Loose.

Yeah hardcore shows are fucking terrible, I've only just turned 30 but I'm in the same boat as you, I like having my facial features intact and I don't want to show up to work with black eyes or a broken nose.
Last time I was close to a pit at a hardcore show was like 2015 when I narrowly missed some prick swinging his fists around like a windmill. Since then if I do see a hardcore band I'll tactically stand back and just watch the show.

I’m old too but that’s how you fortifiy the bones, by using them put push the jits around and tossing them after helicoptering them around

I saw Despised Icon like 12 times since I was a teen, pretty much every time they ever came to my city. And they have a hardcore following. A girl doing "the dance" jammed her fingers in my eye and kicked another girl. Also saw bloody noses after that show. Crazy

You make friends by apologizing after giving them concussions and broke ribs and glasses and having to drive them home for it only for them to give you beer for the gas money

someone jumped off the stage feet first into my face at the chariot in 2011 and my perception froze and my hearing momentarily disappeared, thought it was the coolest shit ever as a teenager lol

“Damn Wildcard, do you remember the breakdown?”
It was actually during the opener, little band called Harm’s Way. I don’t know which track but it was definitely a Posthuman one, elbow right to the eyebrow, blood everywhere, one of the guitarists stopped playing and was pointing it out (I’d really like to think it was Bo… but I really can’t remember if it was him or the other guitarist, or the bassist even
Got a pretty nice scar for it, but you gotta be up real close to see it, so the only people that have ever noticed have just been the women I’ve been with. Not even my mom knows it lmao, I was living with her at the time and got really lucky she was on vacation… I just wore sunglasses until it was time to take the fuckers out.

Only pits that rival theirs in my experience are Dying Fetus ones. Terrifying

@sr388 lol that sound's rad
Jordan Buckley jumped on the crowd during the final breakdown of 30 under 13 landed on me and hit my head with his guitar knocked down my glasses and phone I still don't know how I managed to recover them, after I got hit I didn't even know what was going on for a couple minutes and had to sit down for a bit but the pain kinda felt good reminded me I was alive after being numb for months at that point. I took a picture with him after the show, great dude

I got decked pretty bad at a Reflections show. Also took a fall at an Acacia Strain one. Perma-scarred on my elbow from that one
